Some concern . . .

Both boys adjusted poorly to the disruption of their normal routine caused by or trip to Florida. In the days that followed, both boys slept little, ate little, but cried plenty.

After a few days, Vinny recovered, and for the past week, his appetite has been insatiable.

Adrian, on the other hand, has been slower to recover. He was eating only a few ounces at a time, and refusing breast milk and normal formula, preferring only Soy-based formula. Just in the last few days, his appetite has approached pre-travel levels, but he's still eating less than before, and much less than Vinny, who's size and weight appears to have eclipsed his "big" brother for the first time ever. Adrian is sleeping more, but his daytime naps remain alarmingly short (20 minutes).

Worst of all, he appears to have a mild form of a condition called congenital torticollis. Since he was only weeks old, we noticed a propensity for him to look to his right, turning his head so his chin was on his right shoulder. We didn't think much of it until Noemi suggested he might be deaf in one ear. We did some research and consulted our pediatrician and we learned that his hearing is probably fine, but if this head-turning trend continues, it will create potentially serious problems as he develops, affecting his muscles, balance, even vision.

The doctor recommended physical therapy. We must be vigilant to ensure that his neck muscles don't develop unevenly, effectively stretching the shorter one. A bit scary, but we take comfort in the fact that it is treatable and seems curable . . . .
