In the hospital and in our childbirth class, we heard the same adage regarding first-time parents:
"Don't worry! Children survive despite their parents."
Our boys have been outside for less than a month, and already they've suffered a bit due to our steep learning curve.
For example, I gave them their first real bath the other day, but the basin we have is not designed for babies so small, so I had to basically hold and position them with one hand and wash them with the other. They kept curling up in to a ball and sliding down into the gutters on the sides. Adrian was pretty upset by the time I was finished, and I was in a hurry to rinse him off, so I said, "Dad, grab that cup and dump it on his head."
Well, we didn't realize it, but there were 2 cups no the counter: one with hot bath water, and the other with cold water that I was drinking from. Guess which one we dumped on poor little Adrian's head?

great story.
ReplyDeletemy favorite misadventure with jack (our kid) was one night at 3am when it was my turn to get up to change his diaper. while changing the diaper he pooped all over the place, so i moved him down the mat. then he peed all over the place, so i moved him down the mat farther. i was determined to remain in control of the situation, and not have to wake ange up for help. then he puked all over himself, and was lying in his puke. bah. so i yelled at ange to come help, and admitted defeat.
ange shows up half asleep and before i can explain why i need help, she sees him lying in his puke, and is like, just drag him the other way away from the puke, and im like... NOOOOOOOO, but it was too late, she dragged his head back into the pee pool. so i explained, NOOO you dragged him into a pool of pee! and before i can explain any more, shes like, well, just drag him farther back, and im like NOOOOOO, but it was too late, and now his head was lying in a pool of his own poop.
yay for 3am baths.
ahiuehiaheiahieahiuaa!!!
ReplyDeletePoor little Adrian! Mas acho que a história do bebê da Ange é um "pouquinho" pior. =x ahiuehia
When I get there, you´ll be able to rest a little more (at least I think so), and with one more person paying attention, kids will "suffer" a little less.
I herd last week was their first walk on park!
I hope they´ve enjoyed it!!
See ya soon!
Hey Tuzz!
